Shawn Blackwell is the co-founder of Blackwells Bullpen, a baseball facility he established alongside his wife, Rakia Blackwell. A standout talent from Clear Creek High School, Shawn was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 2009 MLB Draft, embarking on a professional career that spanned over a decade. Throughout his time competing at the highest levels of professional baseball, he developed a profound understanding of the game's mental and physical demands, as well as the grit necessary to excel in a competitive environment.
Transitioning from the mound to the dugout, Shawn now dedicates his expertise to coaching athletes of all ages and skill levels. His approach to training is highly individualized, focusing on the intricate mechanics of the game to help players unlock their full potential. By combining his professional experience with a passion for development, he provides athletes with the technical tools and strategic insights needed to elevate their performance on the field.
Beyond the diamond, Shawn is a devoted husband and the proud father of four boys. As a man of faith, his coaching philosophy extends beyond performance; he is committed to building confident, disciplined individuals who are prepared for success in all areas of life. Through Blackwells Bullpen, Shawn continues to serve his community by mentoring the next generation of athletes, staying guided by his values and his mission to follow God’s path in both his professional and personal journey.

Rakia Blackwell is the co-founder of Blackwells Bullpen LLC, a baseball facility she established alongside her husband, Shawn Blackwell. As the lead for administrative operations, Rakia plays a vital role in the facility's day-to-day success.
Driven by a passion for helping kids, she has extensive experience working with children, including serving as a Sunday school teacher and supporting children with autism as a behavior therapist. Rakia is dedicated to contributing to the community and firmly believes that sports and fitness provide essential benefits for children's growth and development.
Beyond her professional contributions, she is the proud mother of four boys and is deeply guided by her faith, remaining committed to following wherever God’s voice leads her. She graduated from Glendale Community College with her associate's degree in communication, along with certificates in Workplace Competence and Global Distinction Scholars. She later earned concurrent bachelor's degrees in psychology and communication from Arizona State University, where she also graduated as a Barrett Honors student.
